IPM

IPM in pest control, recorded step by step

IPM stands for integrated pest management: look and prevent first, and use a product only when it is really needed. In the Netherlands it is the required way of working for professional rodent control with rodenticides.

PestHulpApp records every IPM step during the visit. Afterwards everything is in the report and in the location's logbook, ready for your client and for the audit.

What the IPM rules ask

  • Since 1 January 2023, rat and mouse control with rodenticides falls under the Ctgb's IPM system, indoors and outdoors.
  • Rodenticides are the last step. Inspection, proofing, hygiene and trapping come first.
  • Only certified companies with trained staff may use these products. KAD runs the scheme for training and certification.
  • A certified company is audited every year. There you show what you did at each location.
  • You always follow the legal instructions for use on the product label.

The five IPM steps in the app

For each step: what the technician records, and where it appears in the report.

  1. 01

    Inspect and monitor

The technician walks the site along the checkpoints on the floor plan.

    • Per station the status, the bait take, the species and a photo
    • Out of reach? The technician notes why, and how to get there next time
    • The floor plan in the report shows active stations in red
  2. 02

    Non-chemical first

Proofing, hygiene, removing the source or trapping: these measures come first.

    • Every measure with its kind, place and what was done
    • A reminder on the tablet when no non-chemical measure is recorded yet
    • The report states per visit whether non-chemical work came first
  3. 03

A product as the last step

When a product is needed, you record exactly what was used.

    • Registration number, active substance, batch number and dose
    • Where it is: the whole site, a station or a place in words
    • The product books its own removal visit on or before the removal date
  4. 04

    Evaluate

Is the approach working? The trend over the visits shows it.

    • The trend per station over the last visits
    • What changed since the previous visit
    • A warning when the same rodenticide stays at one site too long, so you switch in time
  5. 05

    Advise and record

The client gets a report with what needs to happen, and who does it.

    • Risks and recommendations, with an owner and a date
    • What the client can do, such as closing gaps
    • Recommendations stay on until they are done, in later reports too
    • The client's signature and a version number on every report

Licences and insurance in order

The audit also looks at your people and your company. That is in the app and on the report.

  • Certificate of competence (KBA/EVM) per technician, with its expiry date
  • A notice when a licence is about to expire
  • The technician's valid licence on the report
  • Your business insurance with policy number on the report

The report

The report your client receives.

After every visit, a clear inspection report built from what the technician recorded. Ready for your client's file and for the audit.

  • A short letter and a summary of the visit
  • The floor plan, with active stations in red
  • Per pest: what was found and what it means
  • Measures without products, such as proofing and cleaning
  • Products used, with registration number, active substance, batch and removal date
  • The trend per station over the last visits
  • Risks, recommendations and what the client can do
  • The technician's licence, your insurance and the client's signature
